If you didn't already know, the Golden Globe winning film The Social Network was actually adapted from a book called The Accidental Billionaires written by Ben Mezrich, the same author who wrote 21: Bringing Down the House, which was adapted into the blackjack flick 21. Well, the producing team behind The Social Network, which includes power-producers Michael De Luca (Brothers, Drive Angry 3D) and Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, Revolutionary Road) as well as Kevin Spacey's assistant-turned-producer Dana Brunetti, are officially set to work on bringing Mezrich's latest book, Sex on the Moon, to the big screen.

Both Deadline and THR confirmed this news today. So what is Mezrich's Sex on the Moon about? The new book (pre-order it on Amazon), another true story, centers on a rising NASA scientist, who in 2004 came up with the brilliant idea of stealing moon rocks and sell them on the internet to impress his girlfriend. Sounds like a fun story to adapt and knowing that these three guys are behind it, I'm sure it'll not only have a great cast, but an extremely talented writer and director adapting it, too. Although I'm not familiar with this moon rock story, it sounds fascinating and fun, the perfect kind of story to follow in the footsteps of 21 and Social Network. If only Jake Gyllenhaal were still as young as he was in October Sky, he would be perfect for this.
