LOS ANGELES (AP) â" The Facebook tale âThe Social Network,â the British monarchy drama âThe Kingâs Speechâ and the sci-fi blockbuster âInceptionâ were among best-picture nominees Tuesday for the Producers Guild of America Awards.
Other nominees are the survival story â127 Hours,â the psychosexual thriller âBlack Swan,â the boxing saga âThe Fighter,â the lesbian family tale âThe Kids Are All Right,â the heist thriller âThe Town,â the animated hit âToy Story 3? and the Western âTrue Grit.â
Winners will be announced in a ceremony Jan. 22, three days before Academy Awards nominations come out. The Producers Guild lineup typically is a close match of top Oscar contenders.
The Producers Guild followed the lead of the Oscars last year and doubled its best-picture field to 10 movies.
âThe Social Network,â which stars Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, has been an early awards favorite, dominating honors from top critics groups.
âThe Kingâs Speechâ â" with Colin Firth as Queen Elizabeth IIâs father, George VI, as he tries to overcome a debilitating stammer â" also is an Oscar front-runner. It leads Golden Globe nominees and is tied with âThe Fighterâ for the most nominations at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
âToy Story 3? also is competing for the Producers Guild animation prize, along with âDespicable Meâ and âHow to Train Your Dragon.â
Television nominees Tuesday included such shows as âGlee,â â30 Rock,â âMad Menâ and âDexterâ and such movies or miniseries as âThe Pacific,â âPillars of the Earthâ and âTemple Grandin.â
